A tiny bit about Carman, MB

Because I will be working in Winnipeg, as well as the Carman area I decided to look into the history of Carman and would like to share  a small piece of it with you.

If you have never been, Carman is is located at the junction of Highways #3 and 13, just minutes southwest of Winnipeg.  Carman is situated in the heart of a rich prairie agriculture belt and just 100 kilometers north of the United States border.

Carman was settled in 1870 when Winnipeg settlers used the Missouri Trial to located around the Boyne River.

Business began to open in 1878 and it was during this period of growth that the settlers became interested in founding and properly naming a village on their Boyne site.

A vote was taken and Carman City was chosen, later shortened to Carman, after Episcopal Methodist Church Bishop Rev. Albert Carman.

Incorporated as a town in 1905, the community served as an agricultural, manufacturing and commercial service centre to the surrounding areas, a role it continues today.

CAMPGROUND AND KINGS PARK

The municipal campground is located in King’s Park. There are 43 sites and is situated near the Carman Aquatic Centre, Playgound, lighted tennis courts, fair grounds and 18 hole golf course.

It doesn't matter how many times I go to King's Park it's beauty amazes me.  My family and I have spent many afternoons there, with a picnic, soccer ball and kites.  They also have a skateboarding park there for the kids, tennis courts and the kids playground is a hit for kids of all ages.  There is also BBQ areas to set up for birthday parties and such.
